Hard Rock by Ken Wilson, first published in 1974, provides an inspirational account of sixty of the finest and hardest rock climbs in Britain.
They entail 22,000ft of climbing, 180 miles of walk ins, 4 ferry crossings, over 3000 miles of driving. Only two climbers are known to have climbed every route, and both took 10 years to do it. Mark Stevenson and Rich Mayfield will attempt to climb every route in 5 weeks this Summer as the ultimate Hard Rock Challenge.
Friday the 13th - Unlucky?
The start date was Friday 13th July 2007 at Cheddar Gorge. Due to the rockfall danger we need to climb on a Friday at Cheddar when there are fewest tourists around. Despite the 'unlucky' startdate and weather we still made it!
DMM backs Hard Rock!
DMM, Britian's leading manufacturer of climbing gear backed Hard Rock Challenge. DMM's new ultra lightwieght Shadow and Phantom karabiners helped shave vital time off walk-ins and ascents.
